Ryan Goins in the mix at keystone for 2014

The Toronto Sun reports the Blue Jays are considering bringing Ryan Goins back as the team’s regular second baseman next season. Goins has received the bulk of the work at the position since Maicer Izturis went on the 60-day disabled list with an ankle injury in late August.

Though Goins has struggled at the plate, hitting .250 with three extra-base hits in 64 at-bats, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons told the Sun that the rookie has “put himself in the picture for the simple reason that he’s able catch the ball and make not just the routine plays, but some difficult plays as well.”
