Lance Berkman won’t start after all

Lance Berkman, set to make his first start in 12 days, was scratched from the Rangers’ lineup Sunday. He was replaced at DH by Jeff Baker, as the Athletics replaced starting pitcher Jarrod Parker (illness) with lefty Tommy Milone.

Rangers manager Ron Washington went with Baker, who is hitting .326 with 10 home runs against left-handed pitchers, taking advantage of the matchup. Also, Berkman’s hip issues have given him difficulties when swinging against lefties, according to the Dallas Morning News.
